Occurs in south-western W.A. from the Geraldton district inland to Yalgoo and S to Bencubbin.
Shrub 1.8–4 m high, open, wiry, glabrous. Stems numerous, striate, pruinose. Bark of older shrubs fissured at base, dark grey. Branchlets slightly flattened towards apices, brown, often pruinose. Phyllodes continuous with branchlets, rigidly erect, linear, terete, 15–45 cm long, 1–1.5 mm diam., apices coarsely pungent, coriaceous, multistriate, with nerves close together. Spikes 1 or 2 in axils, 3–4 cm long, 6–10 mm wide, very dense, golden. Peduncles 5–20 mm long, stout. Flowers 5-merous. Pods linear, flat, straight-sided or slightly constricted between seeds, straight or slightly curved, 5–15 cm long, 3.5–5 mm wide, light brown. Seeds longitudinal, oblong, 4 mm long, dark brown.
Flowers Aug.–Sept.
Grows on the sand-plains in low eucalypt woodland.

Related to A. lasiocalyx; superficially similar to A. stanleyi.
