Occurs in N.S.W. from the Wolgan R., on the Central Coast–Central Tablelands border, the South Coast and Southern Tablelands from the Budawangs, towards Nowra, near Yalwal, Cambewarra and Nerriga southwards to the upper Snowy R., Vic.
Shrub 2–5.5 m high. Bark smooth or subfibrous, grey. Branchlets terete, dark red-brown, resinous, at first densely covered with resin hairs towards apices. Phyllodes linear-elliptic, very narrowly or narrowly elliptic, flat, (5–) 7–15 (–19.5) cm long, (4–) 5–11 (–16) mm wide, coriaceous, with numerous stomata, glabrous, with ±prominent midnerve; minor nerves mostly 2–4 per mm, conspicuous, longitudinal, nonanastomosing; gland 1, minute, basal. Inflorescences normally short racemes 2–7 (–10) mm long; peduncles 3–7 mm long, glabrous; spikes 1.4–3 cm long, golden. Flowers 5-merous; calyx 0.5–0.8 mm long, shallowly lobed, with white-hyaline hairs on tube and minute reddish hairs on lobes; corolla 1.4–1.8 mm long, dissected for 1/3–1/2. Pods linear, ±straight-sided to slightly constricted between and raised over seeds, 2.5–8 cm long, 3–4 mm wide, chartaceous, glabrous. Seeds longitudinal, elliptic-oblong, 3.8–4 mm long, blackish brown; areole open.
Flowers Aug.–Dec.
Grows in heath or eucalypt forest, in sandy gravelly soil amongst boulders, on granite, rhyolite and sandstone.
