Endemic to the Callide and Calliope Ranges, Port Curtis District, Qld.
Slender erect tree to 10 m high. Bark smooth, later rough near base, greenish above, grey below. Branchlets ±terete, apically angled, brown to greenish brown, puberulous; ridges to 0.3 mm high, minutely tuberculate. Young foliage-tips pale yellow to golden, silky. Leaves herbaceous, feathery, dark green or dull grey green; petiole 1–2 cm long, white- or pale yellow appressed-puberulous, with 1 conspicuous gland near base of lowest pair of pinnae; rachis 3–6 cm long, with 1 gland at base of each pair of pinnae and 1–3 interjugary glands between each pair; pinnae (3–) 5–8 pairs, 2.1–7 cm long; pinnules 20–104 pairs, mostly oblong to cultrate, 0.8–3.6 mm long, 0.3–0.7 mm wide, 1-nerved, glabrous or ciliolate, obtuse. Inflorescences in axillary racemes (40–80 mm), or terminal or axillary false-panicles; peduncles 1.5–4 mm long, slender. Heads globular, 14–20-flowered, pale yellow. Pods ±straight-sided or constricted between seeds, straight or slightly curved, 4–13 cm long, 5–6.5 (–9) mm wide, thinly coriaceous, dull brownish black, sparsely puberulous.

Grows in red loamy soil on slopes and ridge tops, in open eucalypt forest or woodland.
Qld: Thalberg, c. 30 km NE of Biloela, T.Shepard A33 (BRI); Callide Ra., 22 km from Biloela, towards Gladstone, A.R.Bean 978 (BRI).
Acacia pedleyi, A. storyi, A. glaucocarpa and A. deanei subsp. deanei are the most northerly occurring species in sect. Botrycephalae.
