Acacia hystrix Maslin subsp. hystrix

Distribution

Occurs from Kulin E to the Bremer Ra. (c. 165 km due E of Hyden), extending N to near Southern Cross.

Description

Shrub normally 0.3–0.6 m high. Phyllodes articulate at junction with branchlet, 2–4.5 cm long; pulvinus dilated at base, yellowish orange but often drying light brown. Peduncles 5–10 mm long; basal bract caducous.

Habitat

Grows in a variety of habitats but commonly in sandy loam or clay, in open scrub or open low woodland.

W.A.: 6.5 km S of Kulin, B.R.Maslin 3425 (AD, BRI, NY, PERTH); Bremer Ra., B.R.Maslin 5427 (BM, CANB, MEL, MO, NSW, PERTH).
