Restricted to the Hill R. district, south-western W.A.

Description

Erect shrub 0.4–1 m high. Branchlets pubescent. Stipules setaceous, 3–6 mm long, erect. Phyllodes somewhat crowded, ascending to erect, obtriangular, 10–20 mm long, 5–10 mm wide, laterally acuminate-pungent, coriaceous, pubescent to shortly pilose; midrib intersecting middle of the truncate or concave margin between gland and cusp. Inflorescences simple, 1 per axil; peduncles 9–15 mm long, recurved following anthesis, pubescent; heads globular, 15–20-flowered, pale yellow; bracteoles acuminate, narrow, exserted in buds. Sepals absent; petals 5, 1-nerved. Pods (1 dehisced valve seen) oblong, flat, 15 mm long, 5–6 mm wide, coriaceous, red-brown, longitudinally striate, puberulous-hirtellous. Seeds not seen.

Phenology

Flowers during summer.

Habitat

Grows in often rocky or lateritic clay loam on slopes of gullies in heath and/or low woodland.

Specimens

W.A.: Hill R. district, [precise localities withheld for conservation reasons], E.A.Griffin 2595 (PERTH); S.D.Hopper 6332 (K, PERTH).

Notes

The more southerly distributed A. huegelii differs by its dimidiate phyllodes.

Conservation

Gazetted a rare species in W.A.
