Description

Bushy shrub 3–4 m high. Branchlets finely ribbed, appressed-puberulous, glabrescent except at nodes. Phyllodes narrowly linear, 12–19 cm long, 1–2 mm wide, delicately acuminate and innocuous, not rigid, with appressed brown resin-hairs at first, glabrescent, with 3 distant raised nerves. Inflorescences 1–5-headed racemes, sometimes appearing simple; raceme axes 0.5–2 mm long, appressed-puberulous; peduncles 9–13 mm long, glabrous to appressed-puberulous; heads globular, ±4.5 mm diam., ±25-flowered, pale yellow to light golden. Flowers 5-merous; sepals free. Pods linear, flat, slightly raised over and irregularly constricted between seeds, to 10 cm long, 5–7 mm wide, ±chartaceous, glabrescent; margins thickened. Seeds longitudinal, elliptic to elliptic-oblong, 4–4.5 mm long; funicle filiform, gradually thickening to a slight aril.

Habitat

Grows in steep sheltered gullies in schistose hills.

Notes

Related to A. tenuior, which differs, perhaps only infraspecifically, in its terete phyllodes. Superficially resembling A. praelongata and A. estrophiolata.
