Acacia ayersiana (narrow phyllode variant)
Acacia ayersiana (narrow phyllode variant)
Fabaceae
This variant is discussed, illustrated and mapped in B.R.Maslin & J.E.Reid, Nuytsia 22: 185, 187–188 (2012). As noted in that place it appears, judging from new shoot morphology, that discordant elements are encompassed by this name. Furthermore, the distinction between typical A. ayersiana and specimens with narrow phyllodes (where none exceed 6 mm wide) is somewhat arbitrary. While further study of variation in new shoots and phyllode width is desirable it seems doubtful that this will reveal entities of taxonomic significance.
